Hamilton County Public Health is accepting applications for a Population Health Specialist in the Department of Community Health Services.  Requirements include: BS in health education, public health, social work, or related field, one (1) year experience which indicates a thorough knowledge of population health/health promotion and health education principles. Master’s Degree preferred. CHES®/MCHES® preferred. Candidate with knowledge of population health/community health education practices, and policy, system and environmental change strategies preferred. Experience with authentic community engagement and ability communicating with diverse audiences preferred.  Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residency.  Some evening and weekend hours required.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, coordinate and implement population health/health promotion and education strategies, initiatives, and training
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with various stakeholders and communities.
  • Facilitate county-wide mobilization for policy, systems and environmental change related to health, safety, and vitality.
  • Evaluate project outcomes.
  • Identify best practice recommendations for policy and system changes that can be implemented at the community level (Village, Township, City) that impact the overall health, safety, and vitality of the community.
  • Translate public health best practices for populations served.
  • Serve as a resource for population health/health promotion and education for communities within Hamilton County.
  • Report population health/health promotion and education activities and outcomes to all key stakeholders as defined.
  • Provide support for public health emergencies.

Hamilton County Public Health is accepting applications for a Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Environmental Health Specialist in Training vacancy in the Environmental Health Division. The successful candidate will conduct community health inspections to ensure compliance.  Requirements include State of Ohio Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Environmental Health Specialist in Training registration or ability to obtain; Bachelor’s Degree in Science and/or a Master’s Degree; Valid Driver’s License and private vehicle for job use.  Some evening and weekend hours required.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting onsite inspections of operation, facilities and/or systems to ensure they meet required public health standards and local regulations (i.e., food service inspections, swimming pool inspections, public accommodations facilities, etc.)

Hamilton County Public Health is accepting applications for a Public Health Nurse in the Division of Disease Prevention.  Requirements include: Ohio RN licensure or multistate licensure plus one (1) year experience. Experience in Public Health Nursing preferred..  Experience with Epic highly desirable. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in state of residency.  Must maintain current Basic Life Support CPR and AED (BLS) certification; willingness to undergo FIT testing.  This position must abide by all state and federal laws, rules and HCPH policies and procedures.  Must be skilled in operating a personal computer.  This position performs high level professional duties and responsibilities in the care and treatment of patients at and for Hamilton County Public Health.

Job Duties Include, but are not limited to:

  • Phone and in person triage/assessment for STI testing.
  • Provides public health nursing services for patients (adults and children) in the disease prevention clinic and in the community.
  • Conducting case and contact investigations.
  • Obtaining and processing lab specimens including blood draws, and processing lab reports.
  • Conducting direct observed therapy.
  • Administering immunizations and injections.
  • Ability to navigate the Epic EMR system.
  • Provide education, schedule appointments, provide follow up treatment for those needing additional treatment.
  • Selected immunizations or titers and/or periodic screening for tuberculosis may be recommended for this position.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Establishing rapport with and providing risk-reduction support to individuals being treated for and/or exposed to sexually transmitted infections or HIV and develop an appropriate course of action based on patient need.
  • Providing connection to community resources, assistance with insurance navigation, and needed support to clients in a clinical setting. Serve as a liaison to the healthcare team regarding the patient’s emotional, social, financial and developmental aspects of care. Identify and work to reduce barriers to care. Assist patients with setting and keeping appointments to foster continuity of care.
  • Developing and fostering relationships with community partners for services and referrals, linking clients to services, to include oversight of medication assistance programs for eligible patients.

  • Providing PrEP educational trainings to at-risk populations.

  • Locating and testing individuals who have been identified as having a possible exposure to HIV.

Hamilton County Public Health is accepting applications for a Septic System Inspector (WQ Technician) vacancy in the Water Quality Division.  The successful candidate will visually inspect sewage treatment systems (septic systems) to ensure compliance with State and local regulations.  Requirements include: High School Diploma/GED and experience which indicates a basic knowledge of water pollutants, sample collection techniques and a demonstrable ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Candidate with wastewater treatment knowledge or experience and/or a college degree are preferred.  Must have valid Driver’s License and private vehicle for job use.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Performing on-site inspection of sewage treatment systems (including routine lifting of concrete lids) to ensure compliance with required public health standards and state and local regulations. Technicians conduct visual inspections of the system’s operation and effluent quality.
  • Providing technical advice to owners, operators and contractors on matters relating to sewage treatment systems.
  • Preparing correspondence, records and reports concerning inspections conducted.
  • Performing general office work (e.g., filing, answering telephones, etc.).
