Ohio Birth/Death Certificate System Upgrade Begins Aug. 6

Hamilton County Public Health (HCPH) is known as one of the region’s most convenient locations for obtaining Ohio birth certificates and death certificates. And with a new system upgrade, HCPH will be poised to provide even better service ahead of the fall school, sports, travel and wedding season.

The Ohio Vital Records System (OVRS) will undergo a statewide system upgrade on Wednesday, Aug. 6. During this time, Hamilton County Public Health will be unable to issue birth certificates and death certificates. The upgrade will apply to all local health departments in Ohio, including Hamilton County Public Health.

What to expect during the system upgrade

  • The OVRS upgrade will begin during early morning on Aug. 6, and is expected to be completed by the following day.

  • Requests for Ohio birth certificates and death certificates will not be processed online or in person during the OVRS upgrade on Aug. 6.

  • Hamilton County Public Health will begin processing requests for Ohio birth certificates and death certificates once the upgrade is completed and tested.

  • Those needing these vital statistics documents should factor system downtime into their requests.
