Twenty minutes goes by faster than you think. It’s enough time to grab lunch, return a few texts, or finish an episode of your favorite show. It’s also enough time to learn your HIV status and take an important step for your health.

In recognition of National HIV Testing Day, Hamilton County Public Health is offering free HIV testing on Friday, June 26. Free walk-in HIV testing will be available noon-3:45 p.m., or you can call us to schedule an appointment at your convenience. HIV testing is quick, confidential, and offered in a welcoming environment where you can ask questions and talk openly about your sexual health. Need a reminder? RSVP through our Facebook event!

Clinic location: 5050 Section Ave. (enter on Ross Ave. for free parking)

Phone: 513-946-7610

Am I a candidate for HIV testing?

Experts agree that most people benefit from HIV testing. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone ages of 13-64 get tested for HIV at least once as part of routine healthcare.

Additionally, you should get tested at least once a year if you:

  • Have had unprotected sex
  • Have had sex with someone who has HIV
  • Have had more than one sexual partner since your last HIV test
  • Have had sex with someone whose HIV status or sexual history is unknown
  • Are a man who has had sex with another man
  • Have shared needles, syringes or other equipment used to inject drugs
  • Have another sexually transmitted infection (STI), hepatitis or tuberculosis

The CDC also says that sexually active gay and bisexual men may benefit from HIV testing every three to six months. If you’re pregnant or planning to become pregnant, getting tested for HIV as early as possible can help protect both you and your baby, the agency adds.
